...have any of you ever walked out of a movie? And if so, which movie was it? I've heard people claim all the time that they've done this but I've never done it myself. Why in the world would anybody pay $11.50 for a movie and then not sit through the movie? Presumably you have an idea of what the movie is about before you paid your money, right? So it can be taken as a given that it's something you wanted to see. If I go to a movie that is that wretchedly bad I don't walk out. I ask to see the manager and express my displeasure. I don't get my money back but I usually get a free pass.

...have any of you ever walked out of a movie? And if so, which movie was it? I haven't, but when I saw Michael Haneke's The Time of the Wolf, several people walked out during a specific scene. I can understand why, though. There's a very graphic scene involving a horse that is the kind of thing you might expect from an exploitation film (which this isn't). There's nothing in the trailer or a synopsis of the film that would prepare you for the scene, which looks very real and apparently wasn't entirely faked. On moral grounds, I can understand why some people left. Although this has less to do with the quality of the overall movie than specific content. I wanted to walk out on Running With Scissors, though. The blue-haired old ladies who loudly complained throughout most of it didn't walk out, either (did they read the book?)

I walked out of three movies that I can recall. One was Batman & Robin. That was the dumbest piece of shit movie ever made. I also walked of, and this is going to surprise a lot of people, The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Truman Show. I just found both movies to be incredibly boring. They did nothing for me. I think Truman had more to do with the fact that I was annoyed with Jim Carrey at the time. I couldn't get why people thought he was worth the money they were paying him and then The Truman Show comes along and he was "acting". Maybe I'll revisit that one.
