Like most people I only have a limited amount of time (and I got tired of shows I liked getting cancelled right in the middle) to watch TV shows so I just don't watch anything new until it comes out on DVD and if I hear good things about it. Sounds like i'm going to have to try to convince my wife to move Human Target to the top of our Netflix que.

I'm tired of investing time in shows I enjoy only see them get canceled while crap like BASKETBALL WIVES and JERSEY SHORE continue to get picked up season after season. I've actually been spending more and more time on Netflix revisiting past favorites TV shows of mine, catching up on theatrical movies I missed and watching shows I've been hearing about but since I didn't have HBO or Showtime haven't seen such as DEXTER, WEEDS and SPARTACUS.

I think that the TV stations like ABC, NBC, etc... are making a big mistake in not counting those like myself and Derrick who watch on DVD or streaming online in the numbers when they look at total viewers so they need to develop a way to track that. I am guessing that if they did the total for Human Target and a lot of other shows would be A LOT higher if they counted rental and streaming viewers in the total. I just don't understand the popularity of these "reality" shows. Especially when they follow the format of showing 5 minutes of something happening and then a minute of the people talking about what just happened in case you were too stupid to follow. Only thing I hate worse than that are when they add some dumb-ass elimination ceremony into the mix. Oh, and my wife LOVES Jersey Shore. I have never wanted to see a group of Italians get whacked so bad in my life. I would love to see a Godfather Part 2 style cleansing on that show. Can someone please tell me what the "F" a Snooki actually is?

On the subject of Netflix, how does it actually work? I think it and the redbox thing you mentioned must be a purely American invention, cos we don't have either of them here in the UK. We have a website called LoveFilm though.
We do however have Blockbuster, which separated from the US company a few years ago, and is doing very well over here thank you. It has driven any other independent shops out of business, like its US counterpart.

Netflix is a company that for a certain amount of money per month they will allow you to stream as many videos as you want via the internet (providing that they are available for streaming which everything isn't). And in addition, depending on what level of service you choose you get one video at a time sent to your house (or 2 or 3, etc....). I really don't understand why some things are available and some not. I have watched certain episodes of Doctor Who for example and then gone back to watch them again a couple of months later and they are not available for streaming.

We have the plan where we can watch streamling unlimited (which we do thru our Wii) as well as getting two DVDs at a time sent to our house. That's mainly Patricia's thing though. If it ain't streaming then I can't be bothered. I can wait until it is streamed. Somebody told me recently that's why it's important to rate what you watch. Stuff that is more popular gets more play than stuff that isn't. I've got the link to a website that tell Netflix users what's currently being streamed, what isn't and what is going to be streamed in the next couple of months. I'll hunt it up and post it here for the other Netflix users here.
