For me it's a tie between IRON MAN and TROPIC THUNDER. Mainly because of the incredible performances of Robert Downey, Jr. in both of those movies.

I didn't see as many contemporary movies as I would have liked, but my three favorites of 2008 are Man On Wire, Wall-E and Hellboy II: The Golden Army. I also liked The Dark Knight and Iron Man, but both aren't quite on the same level as those three, for me. I also liked Cloverfield, but it honestly hasn't stuck in mind much since I saw it. I haven't seen Let The Right One In or The Wrestler yet. I definitely want to see both. On Livejournal I listed my favorite films I watched in 2008 (not necessarily released this year): transistorblast.livejournal.com/42216.html

For me it was Iron Man, but I've got such an identification with that character, a great deal of that affection goes towards the fact that they did the character right.
Also liked Hellboy II, Tropic Thunder, and, believe it or not, Get Smart.
