Friends of mine have been calling me on the phone and emailing me to ask if I've seen TERMINATOR:SALVATION yet and if I'm going to write a review of it and they're gobsmacked when I tell them that I'll wait for it to come out on DVD. I'm pretty much Terminator-ed out. I only watched maybe three episodes of THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES on TV before giving it up. I'm just bored with the Terminator franchise. They just couldn't let well enough alone after T:2, could they?

I liked the episodes of Sarah Connor Chronicles I watched. The only reason I didn't keep up with series was I just didn't have enough free time. But the series placed as much of an emphasis on philosophy ("what does it mean to be human" issues) as action, which the movies don't handle (at least not much).

...and I'm probably beating a dead horse for a movie I'm not seeing, but this article from the LA Times (by way of Apocalypse Hollywood) is fascinating. The ownership of the Terminator franchise has had a very convoluted history. This article only covers the new movie; the book Open Wide: How Hollywood Box Office Became a National Obsession has more detail on the many hands the rights passed through, and the making of the third film. It's a strange story. And, if I remember correctly, James Cameron has never owned the franchise. www.apocalypsehollywood.com/?p=434

I may have lasted slightly longer than you did regarding Sarah Conner, but the same thing happened...I just got bored and stopped watching. I suspect it's that sort of ennui it engendered among the casual fan that led to its cancellation...

I saw TS last night and like T3, I enjoyed it, but didn't think it lived up to the precedent Cameron set with the first two films.
Of course, I still maintain that The Terminator is the best in the series.
