Since I consider Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel to be the spiritual grandfathers of BETTER IN THE DARK can I get some support for the 100th ep of BiTD to be a tribute/retrospective of their now cancelled but ground breaking/trailblazing AT THE MOVIES?

Very cool. I was ruefully reflecting on their glory days this past weekend as I watched the last episode of AT THE MOVIES. I'd gotten back into that show with the two latest guys after the much-maligned "Two Bens" train-wreck. I never really took to Richard Roeper, who I thought overworked his shtick of being hostile and belittling whenever someone disagreed with him. (I did like when he had guests on during Roger's illness, though.)
But, I do get kind of misty when I think of Roger and Gene who I grew up with. I remember watching their very first national show distinctly: they reviewed A WEDDING, DEATH ON THE NILE and INTERIORS. Seeing clips of them on the final show, did raise a bit of a lump in my throat...

Sounds like a grande idea. As long as I get to send in a rant about their hypocrisy regarding horror films

I think that is very appropriate. I love(d) those guys.

And I had a lump in my throat as well...I go way back with that show when it was on PBS Saturday afternoons here in NY.

And I wasn't a hater, just felt sorry for the other Ben, who was so out of his depth. When he said about the remake of ESCAPE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN with The Rock that it was "Soooooooo disappointing!" the stress he put on both words just made you feel embarrassed for him. Really? You were so pumped for that movie, Ben? You just couldn't envision the thought that it might not be that good?

I thought that the last team, AO Scott and the other fella, was very good.

It still freaks me out that in all its incarnations, from Sneak Previews on, the show laster THIRTY-ONE YEARS.

Okay, at today's recording session, Derrick and I finally decided upon what we're going to do for Episode 100.
Trust me, it's something you're all going to like. Something you can be a part of.
More info soon.
