Some I can think of:
Seven Soderbergh's King of the Hill (1993)
Sign O' the Times (the concert film Prince made in 1988 instead of actually touring the U.S. to support one of his best albums)
Frank Borzage's Man's Castle, a 1932 movie about the Great Depression, starring Spencer Tracy. It's a favorite of mine, never released on DVD. Columbia produced this, and many of their early films tend to not show up on DVD (even though Sony is one of the better studios for quality in issuing old films on DVD - when they do it at all).
The 1932 Island of Lost Souls (there are rumors that Criterion is working on this one, but it hasn't been confirmed). Also a Columbia picture, so you may see a pattern here.
John Huston's The Man Who Would Be King, starring Sean Connery and Michael Caine. This one was released on DVD, so early in the lifespan of the format (1997) that the film was actually split into two halves (one on each side of the DVD). Way out of print now, and I'd prefer not having to flip the disc to watch the whole thing.
The Final Programme, which was Robert Fuest's follow-up to the two Dr. Phibes films and an adaptation of one of Michael Moorcock's Jerry Cornelius novels.
Comic Book Confidential, Ron Mann's documentary on American comic books. This film turns up on cable channels like Ovation and The Learning Channel often, but I'd love to own a copy.

Tom and I both check both boards frequently but as far as I'm concerned (and this is by no means meant to cast anything negative of the Earth.2net Message Board) this is the official BiTD Message Board. And before I let it go by, a heartfelt "Welcome!" and I hope you'll jump right in with both feet and don't be afraid to speak up anytime you like. As for the BILLY JACK films...I dunno how Tom feels about them, to be honest. I myself have seen three of them. I've never seen the legendary BILLY JACK GOES TO WASHINGTON. And you really took me back when you mentioned THE MASTER GUNFIGHTER. I haven't seen this movie in ages. TCM showed it one night a couple of years ago when they ran the first three BILLY JACK movies. |

Thursday, which featured some of the first performances by Thomas Jane and Aaron Eckhart. Great little movie. It was on DVD for a short time but then it went out of print and a copy will cost you close to a hundred bucks.

It was one of those low-budget crime films that followed Pulp Fiction. Mickey Rourke is in it, too; this is one of the films he acted in during his "Hollywood exile." |

Yes, I DVR'ed Kremlin Letter off TCM, but the worthless basterds at Comcast cut it off before the end. (The same fate as when TCM ran the NEVER shown Study in Terror recently.) Lee from Cinema Retro mentioned he recorded a commentary track for the DVD of Kremlin Letter for Fox, but they never released it. I agree it's a very interesting picture -- based on a book with lots of perverse, kinky twists. There's an awesome kicker at the end in the last line of the novel.
