As a kid going to see James Bond movies, I had a hard time understanding a lot of the plots. I was there for the ride of the adventure, the fights, the beautiful women, etc. But I often didn't follow what was going on.
The first movie I found myself really getting into and following was The Living Daylights. Yes, they do throw in a lot of curves and there's a lot of deception on the part of all the bad guys in it, but I find it the easiest story to follow.
You guys did a great job with this episode, despite my misgivings at first at a two hour length, but every minute was justified. You can tell you both love Dalton just by the fact that you actually included sound bites from the movies during the conversation, something I don't think you did in any of the other episodes.
My only complaint is that I don't think you covered the score for The Living Daylights well enough. You talked about the music by Aha and Chrissy Hynes (the only time, I think, a second artist gets attention in a Bond movie), but you didn't play up the score. This score fit this movie like a glove. You not only had an updated Bond theme that played throughout but wasn't overdone, but you also had scores for The Living Daylights and Where Has Everybody Gone? This was the first Bond soundtrack I ever bought, getting it right after the movie.
Dalton will always be my Bond. They always say your first Bond is the one you love, but Moore was my first. He had his moments, but Dalton blows him away.
What's ironic is that they say the same thing about Doctor Who. Tom Baker was my first, but Peter Davison will always be the Doctor to me. This is ironic as Dalton is going to play, what looks to be in the pictures that got out, a Time Lord, in David Tennant's last episodes of Doctor Who at the end of the year.
Great job and I'm looking forward to finishing out the series.
