To be fair I am biased. I know Thomas and have "worked" with him in the past, so I am predisposed to liking what he produces, but beyond that I think that this is one of the most entertaining podcasts I have listened to ever.
Here's the thing; most of the time when two guys (or girls, or a guy and a girl or two guys, a girl and a pizza place) get together under the, "Hey, let's do a podcast!" banner they usually start out strong and them lose interest. Either that or they are just not any good. Neither is case for BITD. Thomas and Derrick know what they are talking about. You can just tell. Beyond that they obviously love movies, have snarky personalities and when those two aspects meet up it is on like Donkey Kong. It is rare when I HAVE to download each and every episode but I have spent the better part of two weeks listening to these guys even going so far as to find busy work around the house to do so I can devote more time to the show.
The biggest impact BITD has had on me is the fact that I joined NETFLIX because I really wanted to check out the movies Thomas and Derrick are talking about and I am not in the financial position to buy all of them. Some are movies I have wanted to get to for years while others are ones I never had an interest in until hearing about them here. My first two DVDs arrived today so I get to start on the James Bond journey with Dr. No and From Russia With Love. I never would have watched these films if it weren't for BITD.
Now there are some places where I disagree with the guys. For one I am a big fan of Howard the Duck, but I am used to being the only guy in the room that likes that movie. At the end of the day, though, the disagreements make the show better to listen to because healthy debate of entertainment is half the fun.
Seriously, this is an awesome, awesome podcast. I enjoy every episode and have been rolling through them quite fast, so a new one has to come out soon or I may burst.
And the show has a great theme song. It really does.

I already had a Netflix account, but thanks to it I was able to watch The Assassination Bureau after Derrick mentioned it more than once. And it is a great film (and even works as something of a Bond parody of sorts). Although, oddly enough, I don't think Derrick and Tom have actually reviewed it - just mentioned it in other reviews. Future episode idea (and if you do an Oliver Reed show, please toss in Burnt Offerings, thank you!)

Thank you very much for your kind words on the podcast, michael. Of course, I think the key to what makes Derrick and I magic is the same thing that makes you and I, or you and Shag, or you and Big Honkin' Steve, etc. magic....that when you listen to BITD, you get the sense you're sitting in on two people who actively like each other, who are friends, just sitting around talking.
Derrick puts it best--when you listen to BITD, you're listening to the conversation we would have otherwise....we've just set up an extra chair for the listeners.

Tom and I will definitely talk about doing so in the near future so stayed tuned.

I think we've talked about doing an episode celebrating/honoring Mr. Reed, and that might be where that film will get its review.

Michael,
It warms the cockles of my heart (and just exactly where in the heart are cockles located, anyway?) to know that you're enjoying the podcast. And even more, that you've been encouraged to seek out some of the movies that Tom and I discuss.
One of the pleasures of doing the podcast is getting feedback from people who tell me that they had no idea the movies Tom and I talk about even existed. When we're able to turn listeners onto movies that they would never have been inclined to check out otherwise, I consider our time to have been well spent.

Glad you joined the millions and millions of the BITD fans out there Michael. Having another fan of the show that is as accomplished in the world of podcasting as yourself just speaks more volumes about Tom and Derrick's chemistry.
And that theme song is pretty good isn't it? I'll have to let that B Hyphen guy know. lol.

I have to share the love myself. I've been listening to your podcast myself for quite a while now after hearing about it while listening to the Coolshite guys. I do indeed love the sitting around shooting the bull atmosphere that your show has, and that's why I continue to listen.
You have actually convinced me to check out Doctor Who, which up til that point had been something I vaguely remember my mother watching episodes of in the early 1980's, with me sitting and watching as well, along with lost in space. Being the snotty Star Wars nut I am, I looked down my nose at the good doctor; however, decided to give the series a chance, and after watching all the modern series, I started sampling the older series, usually with Tom Baker who I most remember from those days watching as a kid. That crazy hair, fedora, and mile long scarf make him such a wacky character that isn't easily forgotten.
Thanks again for becoming one of the must download podcasts in my week, or every two weeks in your case. Yeah the off weeks are a bit lack luster without a new show, btw I'm not one of those who would complain about your shows being too long. Really do you ever get tired of talking to your friends for hours on end, or do you ask them to cut their stay down to an hour? Of course not. Then again my having to sit ten hours a night in front of my computer working, I have much more time to spend than most.

I'm sure Tom and Derrick have heard all this before but I LOVE your podcast. I don't watch TV that much (too much "reality TV") and hearing you two talk about so many different movie genres has sparked my interest in films I have heard about but hadn't felt inclined to watch plus movies that I've NEVER heard of. Also books. I got the George C. Chesbro Mongo series from my library and they are excellent. I ordered Darktown Strutters yesterday so hopefully I'll have that by the weekend. Sounds hilarious and I like kooky movies anyway.
I look forward to your Star Trek movies review episode. I saw the J.J. Abrams movie once and I automatically thought "AU Fanfic". That's what this movie is. I don't get the ideas that the Romulans would rest the fate of their entire planet/race on an outsider even if it is Spock.
Lastly Spock and Uhura. I don't care that they are romantically involved but she would not leave her post on active duty to run after ANYBODY. She was so out of character. Well that's all and I'll be waiting for Derrick's Nightmare on Elm Street.

I'm glad you got turned onto the MONGO series by George C. Chesbro. I've been hearing for the longest time that Peter Dinklage has bought the movie rights to the books and he wants to play Mongo The Magnificent but we'll see. Personally, I can't think of anybody else who could play the character today.. You'll be happy to hear that I am re-watching the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET series right now! I just finished watching the first one and wrote up my show notes for that movie. I'm going to take a break for dinner and quality time with The Wife and then watch NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2.
