The Vulcan who got fried in the transporter accident was named Sonak. Ahh, thought they'd be wrong. They were just doing reviews and going off things they've heard or read through the years without doing any real prep work for their show. And they weren't the most "hard core" of all Trekkies either, well one "claimed" to be but said he weaned himself off. I.E. they assumed that Shatner was bored out of his mind doing Generations and that he didn't want to be there in the slightest. That could be, but research suggests (i.e. his books and such)that The Shat rather enjoyed his experience. And also the podcasters all hate Shatner, so that probably was part of it as well.

You can't go by William Shatner when it comes to STAR TREK. He's well documented as looking out for his own interests when it comes to the franchise.

The actor who was supposed to play Xon played the commander of that Starbase that was assimilated by V'Ger at the beginning of ST:TMP. The base detects the three Klingon ships battling V'Ger and manage to send a warning to earth before they get zapped. That was the actor, but was the character Xon in the movie as well? On another podcast it is suggested that the Vulcan that gets fried in the transporter accident was Xon. I doubt they are right though. I don't know if they mention it in the movie itself, but I believe that the novelization of the movie states that Xon was the crewmember who got fried. BTW, the latest episode of THE CHRONIC RIFT features Derrick's review of the movie as well as the regulars offering their thoughts on it - New Rift episode in which we discuss the latest Trek movie - thechronicrift.podomatic.com/player/web/2009-05-21T05_46_24-07_00

Ah! didn't read through the entire thread. Sonak was the person in the movie. I remember how Kirk said to alert the family through the Vulcan embassy.

I didn't get to the Star Trek discussion yet, but the review of the new Steven Segal DVD is hilarious.

We only know if someone is bringing something and take it from there. Andrea is really going out of her way to introduce us to some truly remarkable crap. And they say I'm bad with my love of Knight Rider.
