Another great episode guys (and not just because of your generous mentioning of my name lol). As I've said before, I love every episode but for different reasons. This one fell into the "franchise/character I love" category. Great reviews of all three movies and I really want to kick myself for not seeing 2008 Rambo yet as I was raving about it ever since I saw the unofficial very bloody trailer on YouTube in late 2007.
As for Rambo 2008 being bloody, it made me start wondering about other gory films I've seen that aren't horror movies. Like RoboCop. I haven't seen it in a while but there's a video...hold on.
Yeah, in that video I realized how bloody it was and thought it might of been on of the bloodiest films of its time. PLUS, Kurtwood Smith was in it!
As for the cartoon series, I was a fan. Had the toys. But I was just a kid. lol. I liked Karate Kommandos better tho.

it made me start wondering about other gory films I've seen that aren't horror movies. One of the goriest non-horror films I've ever watched (besides Robocop) is Akira Kurosawa's Ran. It's a great film retelling King Lear in medieval Japan, but the battle scenes are explicit, including one shot of a man holding his own severed arm (an image Steven Spielberg "borrowed" for Saving Private Ryan). There's another scene of intense violence that's unexpected but unforgettable, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen the film. A History of Violence is another one, though you could argue that it is a horror film, in some ways.

Back in 1987 when the movie came out there was a huge amount of controversy over the level of violence in ROBOCOP and in fact, the MPAA originally gave the movie a X rating before the director Paul Verhoeven trimmed some scenes.
I watched it maybe two or three weeks ago and even by today's standards ROBOCOP is an outstandingly violent movie. Fun as hell, too.

I've never seen a single Rambo movie. I don't really know why I haven't, just never have. Maybe I was a little apprehensive by getting caught up in the gimmick that #3 seemed to have been pushing when I got around to noticing the franchise. Either way, now I'm absolutely gonna grab the first 2 and the last one and give this a go.

I think the idea of an X-Rated ROBOCOP is extremely enticing and I'd be the first in line to see that...okay maybe I could stand being second but only if I'm waiting behind Derrick.

I like ROBOCOP II as well. I have ROBOCOP III but I haven't watched it in a long time. Probably because it isn't a very good movie. And one of the many things that tickle the hell outta me about ROBOCOP is how the punchline; "I'd buy that for a dollar!" has become so much a part of popculture. You say that line and so help me, everybody gets it and cracks up in helpless laughter.

Watching Robocop as a kid, I was oblivious to the satirical jabs at capitalism and big business. I thought it was just a big, fun action movie. Watching it again as an adult is a very different experience.
