So I finally watched The Rundown after hearing you guys talk about it in earlier episodes and it was AWESOME. Really glad I listened to you two on that one. How about an episode where you talk about this and some other badass action movies you enjoy?

If anyone ever doubts either Dwayne Johnson's skill as an actor or Peter Berg's talent as a director, I sit them down in front of this. It's one of the most fun action movies I've seen in a long time. And yeah, I think there might be some action movie fun talk coming sometime this year...

I've heard that Dwayne Johnson is going to be playing Race Bannon in the live action movie version of one of my All-Time Favorite Cartton Series: THE ADVENTURES OF JONNY QUEST. Can't think of a better choice.

Can't think of a better choice. He's starring in a remake of the Disney film Escape To Wicth Mountain later this year (in the Eddie Albert role). Coincidentally, Turner Classic Movies ran the original and its sequel last December as part of a "Disney live action" series. Neither film is very good (except for Donald Pleasance in the first and Christopher Lee and Betty Davis in the sequel, but they're not given much to do). The remake has plenty of opportunities to be an improvement.

Tom and I was talking about this very thing today while recording a couple of episodes and I stumped him with a trivia question from GYMKATA.

Haven't seen The Rundown, but I did see Get Smart and I thought the Rock was great in that.

Haven't seen The Rundown, but I did see Get Smart and I thought the Rock was great in that. Yeah, the relationship between Johnson's character and Steve Carella's Maxwell Smart was handled in an unexpectedly pleasing way. In fact, GET SMART on the whole surprised me at how well made the entire movie was. It wasn't just a quickie remake of an old TV. There was obviously a lot of effort to make the movie more than just mindless disposable entertainment.

To me, this is a prime example of how to do a big screen version of a television series without disrespecting the source material.

It's also a prime example of how to do a parody.
