The movie is mind-boggling in it's sheer WTF-ery. But for some reason, JFK is a compelling movie to watch. Why? It's got very little to do with actual history (despite popular misconception), but it's great historical fiction. I've always found conspiracy theories to be really compelling fiction. Actually, no -- the vast majority of what we see on screen happened. There was a trial in New Orleans. That's not a theory someone made up. Information that is discussed or relayed by others, outside what is happening to Garrison himself, has visual quotation marks around it and could be unreliable. Unfortunately, Stone the pompous lightning rod and poster boy for nutty "conspiracies" becomes a catch-all distraction. Take a look at the House Select Committee on Assassination report where the US congress asserted there was likely a conspiracy. Last time I'll post on this, I promise.

...except to say that mini-series w/ Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes was pure shit, trite, pedestrian unwatchable. I didn't get passed the half-hour point.

It was a hatchet job on the Kennedys by the same guy who made torture seem awesome with 24.

I ended up watching, like 5 hours of it, and it never got any better. So badly written. Greg Kinnear was terrible. Barry Pepper was okay but didn't look a thing like RFK. No clue what Katie Holmes' accent was supposed to convey. The guy cast as Sinatra looked nothing like Frank. And I loved 24, the issue wasn't that it was biased, just that it was total shit, one of the worst things I've ever seen. Remember when there were great series like ELEANOR AND FRANKLIN, Martin Sheen as JFK, MISSILES OF OCTOBER, Paul Winfield as MLK? Now we have this crap...

Why is BiTD #74 so popular all of a sudden? In the past month it's been downloaded 1500 times.

Why was EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND on for 9 seasons? I don't honestly know. Outside of Ray's parents - the only redeemable thing about that show - both Ray and ESPECIALLY that bitchy wife of his annoyed the shit outta me.

Well, it wasn't made for us...it's one of those lowest common denominator comedies aimed at the majority of Americans--many of them in 'flyover country'--who don't understand quality or intelligent comedy....

Every character in Everybody Love Raymond grates on my nerves. But then again every character on Seinfeld also makes me want to heave a rock at my TV.

Why is it that having Sam Elliott in a movie instantly makes that movie better?

Why is it that having Sam Elliott in a movie instantly makes that movie better? Because Sam Elliott is a great, great man. But, while he can make any movie better he can't save a crappy one. I present exhibit A: Ghost Rider and exhibit B: Mask.

Why is there no section on the BITD website for the great, great men like there is for the Hotty Hall of Fame?

Why is there no section on the BITD website for the great, great men like there is for the Hotty Hall of Fame? I though she was pretty good in WITCHES OF EASTWICK, MASK and SILKWOOD. MOONSTRUCK is one of those extraordinarily popular movies whose charms totally elude me. I've seen it twice and both times it bored me to tears.
