The strangest cross-over that I've heard - some of the characters from Cheers appeared on a first-season episode of St. Elsewhere (some of the doctors stop by Cheers after work). James That's a fact. I never was much into CHEERS until Kirstie Alley joined the cast but I was a ST. ELSEWHERE fan because of the amazing cast which included Denzel Washington, Howie Mandel and Mark Harmon. And I do remember that episode where a group of doctors from the hospital do indeed stop at the Cheers bar and interact with the characters there. Since we're discussing television crossovers it should be noted that ST. ELSEWHERE made a habit of making references to characters from other TV shows as if those characters existed in the same universe. Of course, the question of whether that crossover really happened depends on if you accept the final scene of the final episode of ST. ELSEWHERE which remains the most controversial and talked about series finale in television history.

I do remember that on CHEERS.

Another really goofy/strange crossover I've heard of is that between THE BRADY BUNCH and GILLIGAN'S ISLAND.
Mind you, I've never seen either one of the movies based on THE BRADY BUNCH but I've had more than one person who has seen them tell me that in one of them it's revealed that Carol Brady's first husband is The Professor from GILLIGAN'S ISLAND. Presumably she had him legally declared dead after he was lost at sea so she could marry Mike Brady.

Speaking of The Brady Bunch, Wonder Woman is in their universe if you count her appearance on The Brady Kids.

And SEINFELD coexists with that Paul Reiser show. And that's not all... FRIENDS exists in that universe as well...Phoebe's twin sister--literally--worked at Central Perk, and there was a period of a few years where one night during Sweeps NBC would have the three shows run linked episodes unified by a single event. The one I remember the clearest was when Helen Hunt causes a blackout in MAD ABOUT YOU, and the other shows did stories during said blackout.. plus I seem to recall a similar 'shared universe' at the same time on ABC...although I'll be damned if I can remember which shows other than EMPTY NEST that shared it.

And I know you're right about the SEINFELD/MAD ABOUT YOU crossover. The Paul Reiser character lived across the hall from Kramer in what would become Jerry Seinfeld's apartment. And Lisa Kudrow's character from MAD ABOUT YOU was the sister of her character on FRIENDS which pulls that show into the SEINFELD universe, which gets problematic as I think Courtney Cox may have dated Jerry as someone else. (I also recall George Clooney showing up on FRIENDS as an ER doctor, so not sure if that brings that show into play or not...) Also, my two turn-of-the-century prime-time guilty pleasures did a crossover -- CROSSING JORDAN and LAS VEGAS.

Here's a pass at an ad-hoc list. This gets problematic, as even great shows (like THE AVENGERS) need asterisks as the last season is hit and miss and the earliest seasons kind of primitive. (I've never seen POLICE SURGEON where Steed first appears) Also, I really can't trust my judgment of shows I may have loved as a kid but haven't seen in decades. (Otherwise I may end up with TUCKER'S WITCH in first place...) Finally, I have a long period where I watched no regular series at all and was even one of those prigs who would pompously boast that I didn't own a TV (but probably wouldn't have dated a woman who didn't....) Anyway, here goes:
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 24 THE AVENGERS MOONLIGHTING CHUCK RUMPOLE OF THE BAILEY THRILLER (Brian Clemens anthology series, not the Boris Karloff one...) LARRY SANDERS SHOW ROSEANNE DANGER MAN / SECRET AGENT SEINFELD THE ROCKFORD FILES THE OFFICE (UK) THE WEST WING MARY TYLER MOORE BOB NEWHART ALIAS DEXTER
AS THE WORLD TURNS (the Julliane Moore / Steven Weber years)
Talk Shows
POLITICALLY INCORRECT TOMMOROW TONIGHT SHOW (only w/ Carson) REAL TIME DAILY SHOW DICK CAVETT (on PBS)
If I was doing this when I was 12:
THE TWILIGHT ZONE THE NIGHT STALKER ELLERY QUEEN SWITCH (so long, Charlie Callas...) NIGHT GALLERY THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY THE MAGICIAN THE ROOKIES BARBARY COAST EIGHT IS ENOUGH LOU GRANT
There are lots of popular shows (FRIENDS, EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOMND, BIG BANG THEORY) I'll watch when I'm in the nursing home.

I don't like that dig at TWILIGHT ZONE, Eduardo. Yes, it was definitely clear at the beginning that we are only including the best years of any given show. By the way, here's my list with news/variety/etc. added in:
1. THE TWILIGHT ZONE 2. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (THE EARLY YEARS) 3. SEINFELD 4. LOST 5. STAR TREK 6. THE HONEY MOONERS 7. THE SOPRANOS 8. THE PRISONER 9. 60 MINUTES 10. ALL IN THE FAMILY 11. LATE NIGHT WITH DAVID LETTERMAN 12. BATMAN 13. MONTY PYTHON’S FLYING CIRCUS 14. THE SIMPSONS 15. TWIN PEAKS 16. MOONLIGHTING 17. THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW 18. BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES 19. THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JOHNNY CARSON 20. WISEGUY 21. MAD MEN 22. SANFORD AND SON 23. DEXTER 24. THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES 25. DALLAS

Whoaa, Grubl-ster, ease up -- I don't mean to dis' TWILIGHT ZONE, only saying that I haven't watched it except when I was a kid, so its not nessasarily something I think of when I try and rank my favorites today, though I probably should. I was OBSESSED as a youngster and even walked around my elementary school with my dog-eared copy of that paperback collection that had this cool picture of Rod on the cover sitting at his typewriter and smoking. (I also read and re-read the NIGHT GALLERY tie-ins.) I just don't have a real prospective on it as an adult, if that makes sense. I'm sure it holds up, but I also whorshipped THE NIGHT STALKER and while they are still enjoyable when viewed today, I don't place it on my all-time.
Another example of this being PERRY MASON, a show I was also fanatically into as a kid. I remember being seriously pumped one Easter-week vacation knowing that I could watch it each of the three times it came on during the day -- for a whole week! But it doesn't spring to mind at all when I consider my favorites now...

That was Empty Nest, The Golden Girls and Nurses on NBC, Saturday nights. I watched all three every week at the time (hey, I was a young kid). James

She and Jerry pretended to be married so that she could use his discount at the cleaners.

I know that I should find places for LAUGH-IN and ED SULLIVAN. I tried to watch some Flip Wilson recently and it's not as funny as I remember it being as a kid.

Here's my revised list to include talk shows/variety shows as well as some of my favorite shows I forgot/neglected to include in my original list. Derrick -- THE AVENGERS is the only spy show on your list? No 24 / M:I / U.N.C.L.E. / SAINT / SECRET AGENT ? Speaking of which, wrongly omitted from my list and the best show I'd never even heard of 'til recently is the 70s British series THE SANDBAGGERS. Stunning.
