I just heard the review the folks at Edgy Reviews did on Better in the Dark. My first "Huh?" was that people razz you about your ages. They do? News to me.
I think the one aspect of their review that was really frustrating was calling you out on the length of the show. I admit, I have tried dialing down the time on The Chronic Rift after they mentioned it, but it had more to do with the fact that I went back and listened to our lengthier episodes and couldn't get through them, but it's different with you guys. I really wish they would lighten up when it comes to that criticism as I never feel the time is wasted with you guys. There have been other podcasts I've dropped as I feel the time is wasted. (Doctor Who: Podshock is about to get the boot. 90 minutes with 60 of it offering listener feedback. I really can't handle that.)
You should have gotten a better rating then what they gave you, which was the same as ours as we were only about ten episodes in when they reviewed us.

I listened to this too. They really didn't have too much bad to say but I think you guys are one of the few podcasts where the length works without me losing interest. And the girl did give you a 3 tho. But they used the old intro! lol.

Sometimes I wonder if either I just have a thicker skin than most or what as a lot of things that irritate, frustrate and upset most people just roll off my back and I really don't see what the fuss is about.
The way I see it, you put yourself out there creatively with whatever it is, a book, a podcast, an oil painting, whatever and you have to take the good with the bad. Not everybody is going to love what you do unconditionally and I guess that's why I really wasn't bothered by the review. There was a lot worse things that they could have said and the points they raised are ones that Tom and I have talked about.
I honestly don't think they said anything bad at all but neither did I turn handsprings over the review either. It was interesting to hear the opinion of two people who don't know Tom or myself and therefore had no vested interest in stroking our egos just to make us feel good.

I sent in a letter that poked fun at Derrick and Tom about their ages but that was just some good-natured ribbing between friends (and I know they'll come back at me in time). Other than that I'm not sure why it deserved a mention since I can't think of any other instances of it happening.
Although I have to say, I couldn't even get through the half hour podcast. Maybe I'm spoiled from Derrick and Tom, but the interaction and banter in Edgy Reviews seems very forced and unnatural.
