If it makes you feel better, I hated that God AWFUL Commander In Chief show, though to be fair Lurie was pulled off of it after a few episodes due to lateness and other behind the scenes politics, but that show was SO UTTERLY heavy handed I just couldn't take it any more.
As a R-Conservative, I probably felt more insulted watching how Republicans were treated there than any satire or comedic talk show.
Give me Sorkin's years on The West Wing for a more realistic look at partisan politics on a network TV show!
So you are not alone Tom in your hate for Mr. Lurie's work.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Alexander Skarsgard is going from vampires to vicious locals.
The "True Blood" star has signed for a role in "Straw Dogs," Screen Gems' remake of Sam Peckinpah's 1971 thriller.
Rod Lurie is directing the updated movie, in which a Hollywood screenwriter encounters hostility and bloody threats from locals in a small Southern town after he and his wife move there.
James Marsden is the lead. Skarsgard will play Charlie, described as a grizzled, athletic type.
Best known for playing Eric Northman in "Blood," also set in the South, the Swedish-born Skarsgard (son of actor Stellan Skarsgard) has had roles in the feature "Zoolander" and the HBO miniseries "Generation Kill."
