I just heard the latest episode. I haven't seen Return of the Swamp Thing so I'm going to skip on that one.
I couldn't agree more with what you guys had to say about V For Vedetta. I was really skeptical about it because I think the Wachowskis are the biggest scam artist hacks in film, but I gave it a shot and I was blown away by how good it was. There were things it changed, such as making V more heroic than he is in the comics and making the story more black and white. A story about fascism vs. anarchy isn't as black and white as fascism vs. democracy. This movie also proves that 20th Century Fox is run by morons and their belief that a movie about Brits won't succeed without an American is total crap (so do the Bond films for that matter).
Now, as for LXG...Derrick, I love you, but even on a pure escapist time-wasting level, this movie is still crap. I saw this movie with friends who have never read comics and they couldn't stand it (in fact, they wanted to walk out, I insisted we stay). I find it really sad that this was Connery's last film before retirement and that he went out with such a stinker. Everything about this just screams screenplay by committee. And Stuart Townsend's poor man's impersonation of Johnny Depp drove me nuts.
